10th Annual College of Business Classic Open Golf Tournament on September 23

September 16th, 2011
Comments Off

The Montana State University College of Business (C0B) annual golf tournament is scheduled for Friday, September 23, 2011 at the Riverside Country Club in Bozeman. The four-member, scramble format tournament is open to all players and will begin with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start.

As the only CoB fundraising event, the profits will be used to fund student enhancement programs and scholarships. At the last scholarship banquet, two “Friends of the Classic Open Benefit Golf Tournament” scholarships were awarded to business students Gargi Jagtap and Brooke Seagars.

Participants may sign up as single players or a team of four. The tournament entry fee is $125 per golfer ($500/team), which includes lunch, an entry prize, two mulligans, a Hole-in-One competition, the awards ceremony with tasty hors d’oeuvres, a raffle auction and great team and individual prizes. This tournament does sell out, so early reservations are encouraged.

Continuing the tournament tradition, players on the team with the best gross score will have their names etched in the prestigious traveling crystal trophy and receive the honor of displaying the trophy at their place of business throughout the year. Last year’s winning team, sponsored by Dotty’s, was comprised of Scott Eide, Dusty Fasbender, Eric Murphy and Adam Wrightson.

The tournament has been very successful in past years, and the CoB is excited about the positive feedback and interest received for this year’s tournament. The success is due largely to the generosity of the sponsors, prize donations and the enthusiasm and spirit of the golfers.

This year’s tournament co-sponsors are RightNow Technologies and Rudd & Company. Mountain West Bank and Old Chicago are the Cart Fleet Sponsors; First Interstate Bank is sponsoring the Mulligans and Pine Cove Consulting is our Hole-In-One Sponsor. Many businesses have contributed to the tee box sponsorships. All sponsors will be listed in the 2011 College of Business Annual Report Honor Roll of Donors.

For those who wish to make a contribution to the tournament, tee box and other sponsorship options are available. These contributions give participating businesses strong visibility at the event, as well as ensure the golf tournament’s success.

To reserve a spot in the tournament, for sponsorship options or more information on the CoB Classic Open Benefit Golf Tournament, contact Audrey Lee at (406) 994-7026 or e-mail her at audrey.lee@montana.edu.

Each year, the Montanan State University (MSU) Alumni Association honors MSU graduates during Homecoming at the President’s Luncheon with its highest awards, the Blue and Gold Award and the Alumni Achievement Award.

Bill ’56 and Jean (Painter) Bradford ’57 of Billings are the recipients of the Blue and Gold Award along with fellow MSU alumni Dr. Bill ’52 and Marj (Johnston) Hunt ’56 of Bozeman.

The Bradford’s lives have always been about serving others – both professionally and personally. Billings and the State of Montana have reaped the rewards of such dedicated citizens. Bill spent the majority of his business career working for government agencies and Jean worked for two non-profits. Their volunteer time included work with the Boy Scouts, DeMolay, Scottish Rite-Masonic organization; Yellowstone County Council on Aging, Billings Chamber of Commerce, American Heart Association, Junior League, Rocky Mountain College Institute for Peace Studies, Job Connections Inc., and St Luke’s Episcopal Church. In additional to all their local volunteer efforts, they have also made time to enthusiastically support their alma mater – Montana State University. Bill served on a Greek advisory committee and is a member of the Quarterback Club. Jean served on the President’s Advisory Council for three separate University presidents and also served on the Statewide Advisory Board for MSU Athletics. Their financial support also spans campus wide. They are the ultimate sports fans and recruiters for Montana State. Both of their children graduated from MSU and this Fall, the legacy continues, as both of their out-of-state granddaughters will attend Montana State.

The Blue and Gold Award is the most prestigious award granted by the MSU Alumni Association. It honors those who have rendered lifetime service or who have brought national or international distinction to MSU or to the state of Montana. Candidates must have achieved prominence through service to one or a combination of: profession, family, country, world, university, philanthropy or humanity. Recipients of the Blue and Gold Award are recommended by the MSU Alumni Association Board of Directors to the president of the university.

College of Business Executive’s Closet Open September 7-9

Do you need to update your professional look? Do you know what you will wear to your job interview?

The College of Business (CoB) already emphasizes the importance of professional appearance for final presentations to clients in the upper-division consulting classes, when participating in academic competitions against other universities and, especially, when attending the fall and spring recruiting fairs. Recognizing it can be difficult for college students to afford business attire, CoB student leaders looked at ways to help improve student professional appearance and developed a service project they called “The Executive’s Closet.”

This is the second Executive’s Closet and it provides an opportunity for CoB students to acquire professional quality clothing, with business professionals in the community donating ‘gently worn’ business outfits and accessories.

The Executive’s Closet will be available September 7-8 starting at 8:30 am and running until 5:30 pm and September 9 from 8:30 am - 2:00 pm. The Executive’s Closet is located at the Bracken Center in Reid Hall on the 4th floor.

This event is brought to you by the MSU College of Business student clubs and the Bracken Center. For more information, please contact Linda Ward, lward@montana.edu or 406-994-1995.
